Autumn Automotive Tips

Colder winter temperatures can be demanding on your vehicle's mechanical systems. While, at the same time, harsh winter driving conditions demand optimal performance.

To prepare your vehicle for winter, we at Hoff’s Automotive strive to give you the best service possible.

These are the items that will be checked during your winter service with us:

Check all fluid levels
Check the condition and strength of the antifreeze
Check the wiper blades and make sure the fluid reservoir is filled
Check the battery
Check the tread and air pressure of the tires
Check the condition of the belts and hoses
Check that the heater and defroster are in working condition
Check that the lights and horn are in working condition

It’s fair to say that winter is a hard season for everyone, but with the right precautions we can try to ensure an easier one.

Here are some tips that you can perform to ensure your safety while driving this winter season:

Check your tire pressure often. As temperatures drop, tire pressure decreases. It’s best to check the tires when cold, this ensures the most accurate pressure reading.
Carry with you jumper cables, a shovel, and an ice scraper for any incidence you may run into. Being prepared is one of the most important aspects of safety.
Other items for personal safety include: flares, a blanket, bottled drinking water, a first aid kit, warm gloves, a flashlight, and a cellular phone (if you have one).
Plan ahead. Pay attention to weather forecasts, road reports, and storm warnings.
Keep up with your maintenance. Just like any other season, remember that proper maintenance of a vehicle will prolong its life and assure your safety.
